Class Number 2
In class today we discussed food insecurity and community nutrition assessment. I believe what struck me the most was the discussion on food insecurity and the video we watched in class. It is weird to imagine a very poor county outside of Ohio University. I truly believe most students are blind to what is going on around us. In my opinion, we are kind of selfish or maybe better...just too ignorant. But apart from that, as I mentioned in class, I need to start counting my blessings and stop getting to overworked and overstressed about the little things in life. Yea...maybe I won't get an internship but is that the end of the world? Is it worse than going day to day wondering if I am going to make it through the end of the week because I don't have enough money to buy food? Yes. There are times when I have to resort to a cheap food, but I can still afford to eat (whether that be going to Wendy's for the value menu). I hate using the phrase "I'm starving" when in actuality, I have never been starved. It makes me wonder if most people share the same opinion I do.

First Class
Today was the first day of community nutrition and we went over the objectives and goals of the class. So far it was nothing that I expected. I thought it would be mostly farming but it seems like it will be an overall interesting class. What I hope to get out of the class is to know more about what community nutrition is and experience different aspects of community nutrition in our local area. I believe the numerous guest speakers and field trips will help me gain this insight. Going off what we talked about in class, community nutrition is an area that strives to improve the well-being and health of people in a community. Therefore, I hope that with this class, I will become familiar with the organizations and services that help to improve the health of the people in this Appalachia region. Overall, I think this class will be very useful in helping me with my career in Sports Nutrition because it is a field that is more centered towards a community of athletes.
