2nd Day of Policy Making

So today we went back in time and watched an old cartoon about policy making. The "I'm just a bill" sing along for kids to learn what happens to a bill when it goes to the Capitol. So today was kind of a refresher for me in a sense. We also watched a movie on a farmer's market in South Carolina (I believe) that just opened up to the people of the county. The initiation of the farmer's market started because of the high cases of health diseases among the people, but also for a way the people to get fresh, local, and health produce. I learned a new concept today called 'food desert'. If you don't know what it is, it is the lack of healthful foods in an area where there are many fast food chains/restaurants. Therefore, this farmer's market was a great project that was located outside a health facility and a government paid apartment complex. I thought it was an awesome project that was put together. It's just comforting to see these things take place and know some of our country is looking in the right direction towards a healthier lifestyle :)
