Today was a busy day. Unfortunately I was not able to make it to class today as I was participating in the campus wide research expo. This is where students from all different majors and professions come to share the research they have been working on for whatever period of time. It was very exciting seeing all the work that students have done. I saw things from artwork, to video games, to robots, etc. It was awesome!! I would suggest anyone to take a look at it next year.
However, I do know I missed a great presentation by Heidi Anderson, another dietitian in WellWorks. Heidi is the coordinator of education and special events. Therefore, if people have questions about educational workshops, worksite health programs, WellWorks events or massage, Heidi is the go to woman. I have actually worked with her numerous times in the past and have had plenty of conversations regarding her background. One specific event was just this past week, where is was a vegan cooking night at Athens' Church of Christ. It was super fun. Almost every WellWorks staff was there to help talk about healthy living, nutrition, and cook a delicious vegan meal. Heidi (no doubt) set up the event. A little bit about her background..she went to Iowa to do her masters and internship combined where she worked on a thesis about nutritional websites for children. I think part of the reason why I decided the thesis route for my master's program was because of Mrs. Anderson. She is a very cool lady. All the WellWorks staff is pretty awesome.
